The team at Sapien Innovation has been part of Ireland's largest and longest-running events and hackathons.

David and Colin are two of the co-founders of Techstars Startup Week Dublin, a 5,000+ person celebration of entrepreneurship and innovation supported by Dublin City Council and Enterprise Ireland. In addition, they have facilitated and led over 50 Techstars Startup Weekends, 54-hour idea-to-implementation events, across Europe.

What is a hackathon? Initially, the word Hackathon comes from the words 'marathon', meaning long, and 'hack', meaning exploratory problem-solving.

You spend an intense period of time, usually between 12-54h, building, creating and delivering a product. The idea is to collaboratively solve problems in an extreme manner, to start from scratch and end with a working prototype.

In 2020, Sapien Innovation is supporting a cross-industry hackathon with the Irish Defence Force, Health Service Executive, and the Garda Síochána (Irish police force).
